ARTICLE XV – LEAVES
SECTION A - SICK
LEAVE
1. "Sick
Leave" shall be interpreted to mean personal illness, quarantine at home,
or serious illness or death in the immediate family or household. Immediate family shall include parents,
spouse, brothers, sisters, children, parents-in-law, brothers and
sisters-in-law, grandparents, and legal guardians.
2. At
the beginning of each school year, all Teachers of School District 115 shall be
credited with thirteen (13) school days of sick leave. Proration of sick leave shall occur for less
than full time teachers. Unused days
will accumulate from year to year without limit.
3. Teachers
shall receive full pay from District 115 for sick leave days as provided in
Items 1 and 2 above and such pay shall be reduced by an amount equivalent to
any disability benefits received pursuant to the provisions of any income
protection policy provided by the District.

4. If
in the performance of his/her duties, and if the Teacher is not acting contrary
to specific administrative direction, a Teacher is assaulted by a student or
any outsider on school property or at a school related function, the Teacher
shall be paid in full for such lost time and such paid absence shall not be
deducted from the Teacher's accumulated sick leave, provided any Worker's
Compensation or disability payments for which the Teacher may be eligible shall
be deducted there from.
