“January Season” pays .0009 of the base salary (BA Step 1) – Hours to be
pre-approved by the Athletic Director prior to the “January Season”.
** Cheerleading and Pom Pons “Summer Season” pays hourly summer sport rate
(fees for participation will be charged consistent with all other summer
camps.)
If
the same head coach does the same sport for both Boy's and Girls' sports
concurrently, the stipend shall be 1.5% above the single rate.

Consideration will be
given for prior coaching experience for initial placement on the salary
schedule. Movement after the initial
placement on this schedule shall be determined by the teacher's actual years of
experience.
Additional
Athletic Extra Responsibility Items
1. A
sports season will be defined as the period beginning with the first
permissible day of practice through the conclusion of the state tournament as
defined by the IHSA calendar or appropriate governing body if the sport or
activity is non-IHSA.
2. No
coach shall be mandated to work beyond the length of season prescribed
above. If adjoining seasons overlap, an
agreement will be reached between the coach involved and the Athletic Director.
3. With prior approval of the Athletic
Director if a coach works beyond the defined season supervising student
athletic activities (such as pre/post season conditioning, open gym), the said
coach will be paid at the rate of .0009 of the base (BA Step 1) per hour. The Athletic Director has the right to
approve/limit the number of hours worked.
4. Summer
coaching contracts will include compensation for coaching responsibilities
while attending summer contests. Mileage
to these contests will be reimbursed.
5. Any
District 115 Coach who adds and\or transfers coaching to another sport will be
granted a pro-rated placement on the extra-responsibilities pay schedule as
follows:
1-3 Years prior experience at LFHS =
Lane 1
4-6 Years prior experience at LFHS =
Lane 2
7-8 Years prior experience at LFHS =
Lane 3
9+ Years prior experience at LFHS = Lane

Credit will be granted for coaching
one sport to another sport.
6. Consideration
will be given for prior non-LFHS coaching experience for initial placement on
the salary schedule.
7. A coach
will be permitted to conduct practice starting at 1:15 pm on final exam days,
PSAE Testing, freshman orientation day or days agreed upon by the athletic
director, principal and the teacher’s department head, provided that the
teacher does not have a departmental meeting or other specific assigned
responsibility.

All coaching vacancies shall be posted
in accordance with agreed upon posting policies.
9.
A Varsity Head coach may submit a
request for an additional number of hours that the head or assistant coaches
would work beyond the defined season for supervising student pre/post season
athletic activities. The Athletic
Director has the right to approve/limit the number of hours requested. The approved hours may be disseminated and
divided up by the Varsity Head coach amongst his staff, and may not exceed the
total number of hours approved by the Athletic Director. The Varsity Head coach will disseminate hours
as equitably as is practicable and appropriate.
Coaches who work approved hours may submit their own timesheets and will
be paid at the rate of .0005 of the base (BA Step 1) per hour. No coach shall be required or expected to
work beyond the hours approved by the Athletic Director. Scheduling the use of facility space does not
constitute approval of paid supervisory hours unless specifically stated by the
Athletic Director.
Additional
guidelines – Every coach will be notified of the following in a letter and/or a
posting on Edline at the beginning of their official season.
i. All
coaches who plan to conduct pre or post-season conditioning and training for
students must obtain prior approval from the Athletic Director or his designee.
ii. All
hours must be requested by the Varsity Head coach within two weeks before the
start of the off-season or pre-season activity.
iii. Once
these hours are approved, head coaches are to disseminate these paid hours
among all coaches desiring to work out of season as fairly and equitably as
possible before the conditioning sessions begin.
iv. Prior
to beginning the first pre/post season training session, the Varsity Head coach
must submit a schedule to the Athletic Director indicating how the approved
hours were distributed.
v. Individual
coaches are responsible for completing and submitting all appropriate
timesheets for hours worked.
vi. No coach shall be mandated to work beyond the
length of the prescribed season above. Further, no coach shall be required or
expected to work beyond the hours approved by the Athletic Director. Scheduling of the use of facility space does
not constitute approval of paid supervisory hours unless specifically stated by
the Athletic Director.”
10.
Coaches are required to be present
whenever students are present, regardless of time. Assuming students are not present, coaches
are not required to be present past 11 p.m. or prior to 7 a.m. in the morning.
11.
Every coach shall be given a copy of
the LFHS Athletic Coach Job Description before the official season begins.
12.
Contracts for extracurricular and/or
athletic assignments shall be presented before the beginning of the teacher’s
assignment. Exceptions are allowed for
new hires during the season.
